Kotaku releases information that details the release of Xbox Live's Arcade re-release of the N64 version of Perfect Dark will come with several levels and weapons from the classic N64 Goldeneye shooter. Fans were hoping for a full-on Goldeneye release as Microsoft owns RARE (the designer) but Nintendo holds the rights. After failed negotiation attempts, this is the best we can get at the moment.
Actually Rare created the game and just had it licensed for the N64. Since Microsoft bought Rare, they own the content of the game... but Nintendo holds the naming licenses.
This is why Microsoft (Rare) is releasing the content in another game of which Goldeneye is based off of. The content will be there but the names will be changed to protect the innocent.. or Nintendo.
Yes and rare should have never let themselves be bought by the evil of microsoft, instead they did and now nintendo games can't be played on Nintendo consoles. Lame-Oh!
They would if Nintendo wasn't greedy. MS plead for a dual release of the updated games... I just don't think the Wii could handle it thus Nintendo said no. I applaud MS for finding a loophole and releasing the content that fans have been raving about for years. It goes to show who is really pulling for the gamer.
